Sunday is the Lord’s or Worship Day when
Christians gather in various centres for worship and devotion but despite this
great knowledge, most Christians neglect certain important duties.
1. Iron your cloth, shine your shoes and make ready other accessories – it is always too late to start finding these accessories on Sunday
morning; it is better done on Saturday. Women in particular need to take
cognisance of this matter as it is one of the reasons why most husbands leave
their wives at home or why families get to church late.
2. The Bible should be put at an accessible point – Due to use, misuse or non-use, the most important book for the
service is always a problem locating on Sunday morning. You need your Bible to confirm
the preachers and functionaries points of views and expositions – even if your church projects on the screen,
you still need your Bible for marking and referencing.
3. Your Note Pad and Pen – Every intelligent
student knows how to jot important notes during lesson hours – and since we are majorly refer to as
disciples, we need to documents the facts and truths learnt during the service.
You cannot grow if you don’t have a point of reference. Though, tapes are good
but it is better to have something handy, something that can easily be cross-checked.
Your notepad is the best companion and strong archive for knowledge. With it,
your journey and growth are well documented – and it can be accessed whenever
you need a confirmation.
4. Package Your Offering In an Envelope
– The Bible encourages us to give liberally as
intended. It is in your best interest to package your offering in an
envelope, pray over it and be willing to drop it cheerfully (because God loves a joyful giver). We don’t give to God on impulse. Packaging
your offerings will shield you from being sweet-talked by any preacher. Take for example in the Bible days; people were coming to the temple with their
elements of worship – animals or produce.
So, always package your offering on Saturday
and pray over it.
5. Write Your Expectations or Prayer Points –
Everybody is bothered by one thing or the other and we all have a need or the
other we want God to meet. You cannot be having
a business meeting with a company’s President without a proposal to present.
Write out what you want God to do for you; you can read it out during the
general or individual prayer time. It keeps your memory afresh throughout the
service.
