SYNDROME 3
SETTING GOALS WITHOUT DETERMINING PERSONAL VALUES:
In the past, I only thought of what I can do
without considering what I should do.
My accomplishments actually made room for me
but more often than not, my character disqualified me.
Now, I am working on my character. I
have realised my gifts will dictate my potentials but my character will
determine my legacy.
I must
imbibe good and godly characters in order to be more attractive.
I must overcome all the negative habits as much as
I can.
NB:
Our characters will determine who
we associate with or alienate from.
Understand your temperaments: Character traits are major
determinants of the cordiality of a relationship with business associates,
church folks or peers and discovering yours, using it to your own advantage
will be so beneficial.
There is no bad temperament but understanding yours and the
way you behave will help you to know where and how to function adequately instead of trying to be who God hasn’t
fashioned you to be.
SYNDROME 4
FEAR OF GROWTH:
I did not let go of my old ways and like an old
pair of shoes, I saw them as comfortable and familiar.
In 2015, I wasn’t really professional in
dealing with my clients and that plunged my company into debt. Some of the
clients took me for granted whilst others abused the opportunities, used it to
manipulate me and took undue advantage of my niceties.
In 2016, I have to give up on certain old habits, grow up and practise being
professional in my dealings.
NB:
Imbibe evaluation
techniques: Measure your success
on paper. A good businessman must keep proper accounting records of all his
dealings. He must cultivate the habit of paying himself from the business
revenues and he must separate the business accounts from personal accounts.
Don’t spend more than
your earnings: Some people always
lament how they always run into debts because of insatiable wants. Financial
wisdom says ‘Don’t spend above your income!’
Draft your budget or
financial plans and stay strictly
with it. You should have a daily, weekly and monthly budget for your
expenditures and revenues. Don’t buy on impulses or your measurable goals will
suffer for lack of discipline.
Avoid Luxury if you
can’t afford it: Many have only succeeded in building stomachs whilst their
mates built houses. What others consume eats deep into their finances than Boko
Haram invasion will cost Nigerian government in ten years. Do away with some
‘expensive’ things if need be. The discipline may be tough on you and the
family but it’s worth it at the end.
SYNDROME 5
EXCESSIVE WORRYING:
I love to control things and I want to control
them. I always had back-up plans in case God didn’t come through as I’d
envisage or expected. The consequence of this is unnecessary anxiety,
double-mindedness and agitation.
In 2016; I will live by faith and trust
God wholeheartedly. I will thank God for making every situation either a
mountain or a valley. I know He will neither leave nor forsake me and if
I give Him absolute control over my life’s situation, miracles will happen.
NB:
Thank God instead of worrying your head
sick over what you cannot control and appreciate Him for what you have. Godliness with contentment is great gain.
Excessive Worrying can deprive you of joy, shifting
your focus from your priceless possessions to avoidable wants. It can also make you sacrifice your ‘Permanent
Goals’ on the altar of ‘Now’.
Be dynamic: You can’t have everything and sometimes, when our plans
aren’t working, probably God is saying, “Look
elsewhere!”
