Just like Peter, some were sailing smoothly but the
sooner a distraction came, the quicker they turned-off their gazes off Jesus –
and they began to sink.
This year, keep your focus on Jesus’ arms outstretched
on the cross saying, ‘I love you this much!’
REFUSAL TO ADMIT LIMITATIONS:
Some people thought they were in charge. They relied
on their humanity intellectuality but not in its reality. And when the
reality hit; they reacted angrily and with bitterness.
This year; avoid ‘Identity Crisis.’ Just be yourself;
it is the best to be in life. It kills unnecessary envy and jealousy spirit.
SETTING GOALS WITHOUT DETERMINING PERSONAL VALUES:
Men are fond of desiring what to do without
considering what to do – and their accomplishments may make rooms for them
but their characters mostly
disqualify them and your character is
the major reason why people will want to be with you or dissociate from you.
This year, work much more on your character. Your gifts
may dictate your potentials but your character will determine your legacy.
BEING AFRAID OF GROWTH:
Most of us won’t let go
of our old ways. Like an old pair of shoes; they are comfortable and
familiar.
This year; break the jinx, let go of certain habits,
grow up and practice being like Jesus.
EXCESSIVE REASONING:
Do you love to control
things, having back-up plans in case God doesn’t come through the way you envisage?
The simplest result
is unnecessary anxiety, double-mindedness and agitation. Do you feel as such
too?
Henceforth; live by faith and trust God wholly. Thank
God for making every situation either a mountain or a valley; He will not
leave your soul to rot in hell.
LOW SELF-ESTEEM:
Like me, I was moving up the ladder; going extra miles
as the Lord instructed but I boxed-up God in a cage. I forgot He has always
been appearing to ordinary people and
turning them into extra-ordinary beings.
In 2017, follow God’s leading - however, whenever and
whichever until your good becomes better and your better becomes best.
INABILITY TO EXPRESS UNCERTAINTY WITH
CONFIDENCE:
Some were running their
races with other people’s strengths, driving their vehicles with other car’s
fuel. They were either looking at successful people to determine their targets
or waiting for people’s judgements or opinions before crossing the mark.
From now on, be transparent; exchange ideas with people
of like minds and openly admit your limitations instead of struggling.
POOR MANAGEMENT OF TIME:
Many of us either spent our time carelessly or allowed
other people wasted it in the pretence of humility.
From 2017, adorn time as a valuable asset that must
not be wasted.
HARDLY MEASURING SUCCESS:
Inability or failure to create concrete plans of
action had made many lived everyday of the year stuck to a routine.
From 2017, adopt a good coach strategy; rate your success
by the scoreboard and not by rulebook. Pencil-in your plans but write your
vision with ink. Like a good coach, change your plans in order to win glorious
goals.
FEAR OF WHAT OTHERS MIGHT SAY:
Most people are victims of this; it keeps some on the
same unrewarding jobs and imprisoned some on avoidable tasks and stupid relationships.
That is what I called self-imposed slavery.
From now on, I want you to realise, it doesn’t matter
who criticises you if you succeed and it doesn’t matter who condemns me if you fail.
IT IS YOUR LIFE!
Let Us Pray
Lord, I want to be a major source of blessing to people in
my life!
Help me to quit being so fixated on myself and to see how I
can become a strength and encouragement to others who are around me.
Your Word commands me to be involved in giving daily
encouragement. And since I am seriously committed to obeying Your Word, I
intend to find a way to encourage someone who needs strength today! I pray this
in Jesus' name!
